Most D2C founders we meet can quote their ad cost per purchase from memory. Ask how many customers ordered a second time in the last 90 days, and the room goes quiet. That number is spread across Shopify, a marketplace seller panel, a courier dashboard and three WhatsApp phones. An ecommerce CRM pulls those into one customer record so you can act on it.
The order-to-repeat workflow we usually set up
- Order arrives from your website or a marketplace and attaches to the customer by mobile number, not email, since many Indian buyers skip email or use one they never check.
- COD check: cash-on-delivery orders get a WhatsApp message asking the buyer to confirm. Unconfirmed orders go to a calling list before dispatch, not after.
- Dispatch and delivery status comes in from the courier, so support can answer "where is my order" without logging into another panel.
- After delivery, a review request goes out, then a reorder reminder timed to how long your product actually lasts: about a month for a face serum, longer for a protein tin.
- Returns and exchanges are logged against the same customer, so you can see who returns often.
Where online stores lose money without an ecommerce CRM
RTO on cash orders. Return-to-origin on unconfirmed COD orders burns shipping both ways plus packaging. A confirmation step before dispatch is usually the first thing we switch on.
Sale season blindness. During Diwali and end-of-season sales, you win a large batch of new buyers at a discount. If nobody tags them, you cannot tell later whether sale buyers ever return at full price.
Support in personal phones. Complaints arrive on Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and email. When the support executive is on leave, the history goes with them.
Reports worth checking weekly
- Repeat purchase rate by the first product a customer bought
- COD confirmation and RTO by pin code and courier
- Customers who have not ordered in 60, 90 and 180 days
- Revenue by acquisition channel, counted over months, not just the first order
Brands that also supply retailers should track outstanding payments and the buyer's GSTIN on every B2B account, since each GST invoice needs it.
Before the demo
Tell us which store platform and marketplaces you sell on, your rough monthly order range and which courier aggregator you use. Pick two or three products with a clear reorder cycle, and we will build the reminder flow around them during the demo.
An honest view: if you sell a few hundred orders a month from one channel, your store's built-in tools may be enough for now. Once you sell on three channels and run COD at scale, they rarely are.
